No GED registration after 4:00pm (except by special appointment)

 

The GED test is a service provided through this office for people wishing to earn a high school equivalency certificate. The GED certificate offers individuals whose high school education was cut short due to unavoidable circumstances the opportunity to apply for jobs or continue their education at the next academic level. In today's competitive job market, a GED certificate is an added advantage for job applicants. In addition, attaining a GED certificate provides an sense of accomplishment and pride. Study guides to help individuals prepare for the test are available  for purchase at the ROE office .

 

Who is Eligible To Test

Applicants may apply to the Regional Office of Education in their county of residence provided they:

are 17 years of age or older*

bullet

are not a high school graduate and

bullet

have maintained residence in Illinois for thirty (30) days

    * If an individual has been enrolled in a public, private or a home school setting in the last twelve (12) months, they must present a withdrawal letter from the last school enrolled before making application to take the GED Tests.

COST FOR TESTING

The $50.00 fee for testing and issuance of the High School Equivalency Certificate must accompany the application which will permit candidates to take the Tests of General Educational Development.

POSTAL MONEY ORDER OR CASHIERS' CHECK REQUIRED

CASH/CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED
 

COST FOR RETEST

 

$15.00 for the writing test.
$10.00 for each of the remaining tests.

 

Duplicate Scores $3.00

Duplicate Certificates $10.00  

GED REVIEW

Free, short review classes, specially designed to prepare students for all parts of the GED test,
are available at a variety of locations and times.
